Early Season Conditions and Limited Terrain

Early season conditions are present at the resorts that are open!

Be aware of increased traffic on a reduced footprint! Many people are excited to ski or ride and there is a very limited footprint at all resorts at this time.

Be aware that if you receive a safety warning or safety citation on your Employee Pass or on an Epic Pass this could jeopardize your employment.
Prepare Your Ski and Snowboard Equipment for the Season.

​​Apply a fresh layer of wax to the base of your equipment.
-
Prepare your the edges of your equipment for firm early season conditions.
-
If you have purchased new equipment, be sure that your boots and binding are compatible.

It is always a good idea to have your equipment professionally inspected and tuned to start the season

WHAT is TERRAIN MANAGEMENT?
The Vail Resorts terrain management program is an enterprise wide initiative to uphold our BE SAFE core value. This program is designed to provide insight on resort conditions to our instructor staffs and ski and snowboard school guests.
WHO does TERRAIN MANAGEMENT impact?
Adherence to terrain management openings and closures is the responsibility of all on the clock ski and snowboard school employees! Please be sure to educate yourself on other Vail Resorts Mountain's Terrain Management programs!
WHO makes TERRAIN MANAGEMENT decisions?
Decisions surrounding terrain management openings and closures are made by Ski and Snowboard School Leadership in conjunction with guidance from Instructor Staff, Mountain Operations team members, Beaver Creek Ski Patrol and Beaver Creek Resort Leadership.

Terrain Management
Are You Ready to Ride?
The following must be completed before engaging in any on-snow work-related activities including training. Please see your supervisor or manager if you have any questions about our Ready to Ride requirements.
LIFT Trainings

Slope Safety - 7 minutes

SRS Wage and Hour - 30 minutes

Snow Pro Need to Know - 60 minutes​
Employee Equipment Inspection

Completed in person with a Ski and Snowboard School Supervisor or Manager. All equipment used for work related activities must be checked prior to use.

This includes helmets, skis, snowboards, boots, and bindings.

Our Ski and Snowboard School Leadership Team, together with our Ski and Snowboard School Trainers, has compiled a list of all trails on Beaver Creek Mountain, indicating the appropriate ski or snowboard skill level a student must have to ski or ride each trail during lessons at Beaver Creek. The trails are categorized by discipline and age to help you with your lesson planning. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to speak with any Ski and Snowboard School Supervisor or Manager.

Terrain Park Safety
The Playground​

Students must be at least a Level 4 to enter The Playground
-
All instructors in The Playground must have at minimum an ORANGE park pass.
-
Teaching in The Playground requires an ORANGE park pass.
Park 101
-
Students must be at least a Level 6 to enter Park 101.
-
All instructors in Park 101 must have at minimum an ORANGE park pass.
-
Teaching in Park 101 requires an ORANGE or GREEN park pass depending on the feature. See the Ski and Snowboard School Handbook for more information

Zoom Room

Students must be at least a Level 7 to enter Zoom Room.

All instructors in Zoom Room must have at minimum an BLUE park pass.
